Next July 19, Ibero-America Day 2024, the Ibero-American General Secretariat (SEGIB) and Casa América, with the support of the Spanish Agency for International Cooperation for Development (AECID) will hold the Ibero- cultural encounter American Dialogue with the Brazilian artist Carlinhos Brown, Ibero-American Ambassador of Culture.
The meeting will commemorate 20 years of the award-winning film The Miracle of Candeal, directed by Fernando Trueba and starring, among others, Brown and Bebo Valdés, whose great-granddaughter and singer, Marina Valdés will also participate in this dialogue on the cohesive role of culture and the musical connection between Cuba, Spain and Brazil.
Since 2020, the 22 Ibero-American countries celebrate Ibero-American Day every 19 July. In this way they value the set of historical and cultural affinities that make up the rich and diverse Ibero-American Community and advocate unity and development based on dialogue, cooperation and solidarity.
They will welcome attendees León de la Torre, general director of Casa de América, and Andrés Allamand, Ibero-American Secretary General, and will participate in the event Carlinhos Brown, musician, composer, socio-cultural activist and Ibero-American Ambassador of Culture (Brazil) and Marina Valdés, singer and great-granddaughter of Bebo Valdés, with the collaboration of musicians Leticia Malvares (flutist), Rubens Allan (strings), Caboclo (percussion) and Pitú (strings).
