Sarmila Parajuli, Ambassador of Nepal, offered last Friday a cocktail party at her residence as a farewell to her two years at the head of the Embassy.
“We carry with us memories that will be cherished forever,” said the Nepali ambassador in her speech, later highlighting the agreements signed and meetings with universities, think tanks, business communities and chambers of commerce, artists, writers, scientists, teachers, students, sportsmen and women, “all the contacts we have had have been incredibly enriching”.
“It has been an extraordinary journey that I have been fortunate to share with all of you,” said Ambassador Sarmila Parajuli addressing the guests. “Your support, she continued, friendship and unwavering trust have been the pillars of my mission here in Madrid. To the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the Government of Spain I extend my sincere thanks.”
“These collaborations, she continued, have not only broadened my background, but also solidified the bond between our countries. I am deeply proud of what we have accomplished together serving as the dean Asia-Pacific ambassador, and that it has been a remarkable experience, which I will always treasure.”
She wished Nepal’s next ambassador to Spain every success in his work and expressed confidence that “he will continue to lead and support the group with more dedication and spirit in the future.”
Ambassador Sarmila Parajuli recalled during her speech “the grand horse racing event attended by nearly 4,300 guests” organised by the Embassy last year on the occasion of the 55th anniversary of diplomatic relations with Spain, as “one of the most unforgettable moments of my stay here. It was a celebration of Nepali and our bilateral relations, and the scene, the joy and the friendship between us was truly fascinating”.
“Despite the challenges and limited resources,” the Nepalese ambassador concluded, “we have made remarkable achievements.”
In addition to a large number of members of the Nepali community in Madrid, the cocktail was attended by the ambassadors of Japan, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Sudan, Slovenia, Hungary, Poland, Serbia, Nicaragua, Moldova, Oman, Thailand and Vietnam, along with representatives of the delegations of Andorra and Belgium, among others.
