Due to the increase of Korean visitors to Malaga and the interest aroused by the province of Malaga in South Korea, the Centro Cultural Coreano and the Museo Picasso de Málaga have jointly developed audio guide service using physical device and mobile solution (webapp).
The initiative as told by the director of the Korean Cultural Center, Jaekwang Shin, is a response to the relevant and growing demand for Korean tourism fascinated by the tourist and cultural attraction of the province of Malaga. Last year, the Andalusian Community received more than 170,000 Korean visitors, representing an increase of 288% compared to the previous year and a special focus on Korea as a potential market.
Since the beginning of the year, the Korean Cultural Center has worked extensively on a survey of the main cultural spaces in Spain to learn about the interest of Korean tourists and the availability of audio guides in Korean language in them, motivated by the fact that, although 434,372 Korean tourists visited Spain in 2023 with an average expenditure of 2,931 euros, Many of them have experienced some inconvenience due to the absence of audioguide services in Korean in the main tourist places of Spain.
As a result of this study this Cultural Center signed an agreement last April with the Picasso Museum Malaga to incorporate a new audio guide in Korean. Similarly, the Centre will seek to extend audio-guidance services in Korean to various museums and tourist sites in Spain.
