The Minister of the Interior, Fernando Grande-Marlaska, yesterday presented his diplomas to 19 Ukrainian police officers who have completed the specific training corresponding to the European Union Military Assistance Mission in support of Ukraine (EUMAM) in Logroño.
During the visit, the minister received explanations about the training that the Ukrainian agents have carried out for two weeks at the Experience Polygon for Special Forces facilities at the headquarters of the Rural Action Unit of the Civil Guard in Logroño.
The teachers at the Special Training Center have instructed the agents in combat in closed spaces, urban combat, tactical health, shooting with a short weapon, use of drones and advanced technology, in addition to training in cybersecurity and electronic warfare operations
The training of the National Gendarmerie of Ukraine in the facilities of the Rural Action Unit is part of the EUMAM, a program created at the end of 2022 and carried out in EU territory with the aim of strengthening the capacity of the Armed Forces Ukrainians to defend the territorial integrity of their country. The course closed yesterday is the second training plan aimed at Ukrainian agents this year, after the one given in February to another 21 agents.
Grande-Marlaska took advantage of the visit to reaffirm the “unwavering commitment” of Spain and the EU in favor of Ukraine in the face of “the illegitimate invasion of its territories” by Russia and reiterated that “support will continue as long as necessary.”
The Rural Action Unit (UAR) of the Civil Guard has as its specific mission the fight against terrorism, organized crime, drug trafficking and the execution of high-risk operations that require a rapid response. Based in Logroño, the UAR is structured into the Rapid Action Group (GAR) as an operational part and the Special Training Center (CAE) as a support part for the training and instruction of civil guards.
This Unit also includes the Civil Guard Special Forces Experience Range, a training field with differentiated areas such as shooting, driving or collapse and rescue areas, which allow high-level training for all personnel. agents who are part of the Rural Action Unit.
