Casa Asia will hold the award ceremony of its 2024 Awards on the 5th of July at 12.30 p.m. at the Centro Cultural Contemporáneo Condeduque in Madrid.

The winners of this edition of the Awards in its four categories are: Editorial Kairós, in the Culture and Society category, for facilitating and disseminating knowledge of classical and modern Asian texts that favour dialogue between East and West, and for its commitment to an independent publishing line since its creation by the engineer and philosopher Salvador Pániker six decades ago. Since then, it has published more than a thousand titles, consolidating the cultural and business initiative of his father (Agustín Paniker, director of the publishing house, will receive the award); Rohinyatographer Initiative, in the category of Diversity, Inclusion and Sustainable Development, for raising awareness, through photography, of the Rohingya community and for making visible a conflict that has not yet been resolved. The Rohingyatographer magazine, in which some thirty photographers collaborate, stands out in the framework of this project. Directed by the Spaniard David Palazón and the Burmese Sahat Zia Hero, the publication is today a meeting place for all those interested in the situation of the Rohingya refugees, in community documentary photography, and in the defence of human rights (David Palazón, co-director of the project, will receive the prize); Manga Barcelona-Ficomic, in the category of Economy, Innovation and Entrepreneurship, for the promotion of manga as a gateway to Japanese culture in Spain, contributing, with an inclusive approach, to the interest in Japan, especially among young people. Formed by the guilds of publishers, booksellers and distributors of Catalonia, Ficomic began its activity in 1989 with the organisation of Comic Barcelona, and since 1995, Manga Barcelona (formerly the Barcelona Manga Fair), experiencing an extraordinary development, bringing together more than 165,000 attendees at its last edition (the award will be collected by Meritxell Puig, director general of FICOMIC), the Korea Foundation, in the category of Education and Science, for its work to promote Korea through various programmes, including educational programmes and the promotion of Korean studies abroad, as well as for its co-organisation, together with Casa Asia since 2003, of the Korea Foundation, in the category of Education and Science, for its work to promote Korea through various programmes, including educational programmes and the promotion of Korean studies abroad, as well as for its co-organisation, together with Casa Asia since 2003, of the Korea Foundation, in the category of Education and Science, for its work to promote Korea through various programmes, including educational programmes and the promotion of Korean studies abroad, and for its co-organisation, together with Casa Asia since 2003, of the Spain-Korea Forum, a platform for dialogue and cooperation, whose main objective is to strengthen bilateral relations in the economic, academic and cultural fields, and which in 2023 reached its 15th edition (Byung Kuk Woo, director of the Korea Foundation, Berlin Office, will receive the award).

The Casa Asia Awards ceremony will include welcoming remarks by the General Director of International Relations of the Madrid City Council, José Herrera, and the General Director of Casa Asia, Javier Parrondo, and will be enlivened by the musical performances of two duos, the first made up of musicians Carla Motis and Vignesh Melwani, voice and jazz guitar, and the second by the group Leesarang with Eun Ae Lee and David Alegre, voice and viola.
