Tomorrow Tuesday at 11 a.m., the Internationalisation of Companies area of the Cámara de Comercio of Madrid will present the webinar Egypt, business and investment opportunities.
Egypt, with more than 106 million potential consumers, is consolidated as the third economy of the MENA region in terms of GDP. With the aim of achieving a GDP growth of 4.2% in the coming years, the government has established ambitious investment programmes in strategic sectors such as renewable energy, health, education and agriculture.
Under the framework of the ‘Egypt Sustainable Development Strategy 2030’, an investment of 180 million euros is expected to increase the area under cultivation by 900,000 hectares, produce 45% of Egypt’s electricity from renewable sources, and carry out macro projects such as the New Administrative Capital, with an investment of 50 billion euros. In addition, the new Investment Law enacted in 2017 facilitates the arrival of foreign investment, offering tax exemptions for the first five years.
Opening remarks will be given by Esther Calvo, International Development Manager of the Official Chamber of Commerce, Industries and Services of Madrid, and Ahmed Nasr, Commercial Counsellor of the Embassy of Egypt. This will be followed by a conference entitled Business and Investment Opportunities for Spanish Companies, by Eduardo Soriano Izquierdo, Economic and Commercial Counsellor of the Economic and Commercial Office of Spain in Egypt.
