The Centro Cultural Coreano of Madrid is organising the 12th K-Pop Contest in Spain, an annual event awaited by all lovers of Korean culture and K-Pop. The contest will take place on Sunday 30 June 2024 at 12 noon at the Teatro EDP Gran Vía (calle Gran Vía 66, 28013, Madrid).
Tickets for this event are completely free and will be available on the day of the contest, from 11 a.m. onwards, at the entrance of the theatre. Tickets will be distributed until full capacity is reached, so we recommend arriving in advance.
In this edition, 38 young people aged between 14 and 34 from Madrid, Valencia, A Coruña, Barcelona, Seville, Pamplona, Tenerife, Bilbao and Salamanca have been selected in the singing and dancing categories; 5 soloists for singing and 5 dance groups. The contestants will compete with popular K-Pop songs in Korean language by well-known artists such as IU or Babymonster. The first place winners in both categories will receive a prize of €1,000 and the chance to participate in the K-Pop World Festival in Changwon (South Korea), a worldwide contest organised by KBS (Korean TV channel). The runners-up in each category will receive a prize of €500.
In addition, during the course of the event, there will be a raffle organised by the Centre itself, in which four lucky winners will be able to win VIP EXPERIENCE tickets to attend the Music Bank festival in Madrid, the world reference event of the K-pop genre that comes to Spain in 2024 as part of the Music Bank World Tour. This international concert tour comes to Spain thanks to SONDE3 and L.A. ROCK ENTERTAINMENT in association with KBS, the South Korean network that broadcasts the popular Music Bank programme. Since 2011, Music Bank World Tour has visited 18 cities in Asia, America and Europe, and has served as a launching pad for K-Pop stars such as BTS, Stray Kids, or Twice, making it the genre’s global benchmark event. Its 19th edition will be the most ambitious to date, with an unparalleled show at the newly renovated Santiago Bernabéu where more than 50,000 fans will enjoy their idols, and which KBS will broadcast live around the world.
On the other hand, four double tickets for the Dynamic Duo concert in Madrid will also be raffled. The agency Amoeba Culture and the European promoter Front Row are bringing the famous South Korean hip-hop duo formed by the rappers Choiza and Gaeko to our country. Spain is one of the five stops in Europe on the “Dynamic Duo 2024 Europe Tour”. This tour marks an important milestone for the South Korean duo, who continue to expand their fan base around the world after more than twenty years of musical career since their debut.
The contest will be hosted by Xenia, a prominent K-Pop singer and content creator from Barcelona, who returns after hosting the 11th edition of the contest.
