Morricone and 100 years of cinema is the title of the concert in tribute to the Italian film soundtrack composer Ennio Morricone, presented once again by the Fundación Excelentia, which will take place next Friday 28 June at 7.30 p.m. in the symphonic hall of the Auditorio Nacional de Música in Madrid.
Ennio Morricone was an Italian composer and conductor known for having composed the soundtracks for more than five hundred films and television series. He received an honorary Oscar in 2006 and won the Oscar for Best Score in 2016 for The Hateful Eight. In 2020, he was awarded the Princess of Asturias Award for the Arts, shared with fellow composer John Williams.
This is a tribute concert to the unforgettable Italian composer who passed away in 2020, along with other musical wonders composed during the 100 years of cinema, from Casablanca and Gone with the Wind to the present day, performed by the Royal Film Concert Orchestra, conducted by maestro Fernando Furones.
The Good, the Bad and the Ugly, Cinema Paradiso, The Mission, Novecento, Death had a Price, The Ecstasy of Gold, The Lord of the Rings, Forrest Gump, Pirates of the Caribbean, Lawrence of Arabia, Out of Africa, Gone with the Wind, Titanic or Ben-Hur will make up the varied programme of the concert.
