The courtyard of the Instituto Francés of Madrid will be the setting for the Fête de la Musique 2024 on Friday 21 June from 7 p.m. onwards. Free admission until full capacity is reached.
This cultural event, created in 1982 to celebrate the summer solstice and International Music Day, brings together all generations and all musical styles. French inclusive collective “La Sueur” (pictured) and Alicante DJ Cascales will light up the Institute’s courtyard and cafeteria for a night of celebration.
A bar will be open on the night of the event for dancing and refreshments throughout the evening to make the most of the party!
La Sueur is a Bordeaux-based collective made up of 3 DJs -Sevenbeatz, Meryl Street and Marge- and 4 dancers: Patt, Pearl, Samuel and Juliette. Inclusive, hybrid and uninhibited, the members of La Sueur place dance at the heart of the party as a liberating and emancipatory discipline. The dancers place themselves on the same level as the DJs, and their performances call the audience to self-acceptance and the proud expression of all bodies, genders and identities. Their aim is to free the dance floor of limitations, negative mentalities and prejudices. It is a desire for uninhibited celebration, for open festive and musical spaces where bodies feel free to move and where dance and music are intimately linked.
Alicante DJ Agustin Cascales will be on the decks for a frenetic musical interlude, taking us through his R&B, funk and hip-hop influences with the sole challenge of getting you dancing. He is the editor-in-chief of Shangay magazine, the leading LGTBIQ+ media outlet in Spanish, which celebrated its 30th anniversary in 2023. Chosen by the newspaper El Mundo on two occasions as one of the 50 most influential LGTBIQ+ people in Spain, throughout his professional career he has developed a parallel career as a DJ, programmer and music consultant.
