Next Sunday, the band L’Exotighost will display its surf and retrofuturist repertoire at 8.30 p.m. at Teatro del Barrio in Madrid (Calle Zurita, 20).

In this concert, L’Exotighost brings to Teatro del Barrio the spirit of Exotica to the 21st century, exhibiting the hallmark of the style: the unprecedented mix of instruments that end up combining surprisingly well, and they are the marimba, the theremin, ukuleles, basses, surf guitars, shamisen, powerful drums and percussion and some retro-futuristic electronic details.

A quartet that oozes mystery, strength and delicacy in equal parts in a concert conceived as a trip around the world in search of the traces of exotica, one of the best kept secrets in the history of music. The style emerged in the 1950s associated with tiki culture and, like it, seeks to provide evasion and a sensory journey through mystery and musical surprise.

A sound cocktail containing oriental scales, Afro-Caribbean rhythms, surf guitars and jungle sounds amalgamated with instrumental solvency and a special fondness for Hawaiian and Polynesian culture. The show is completed with the participation of Cris Maylea, a specialist in Polynesian dance and the hypnotic visuals of a_mal_gam_a. The repertoire combines original songs by L’Exotighost (included in their albums La ola oculta and Kamongo) with the recovery of authentic exotic gems such as Delicado, Similau and Firecracker.
