Casa Asia and the Devswongse Varopakarn Institute of Foreign Affairs (DVIFA), in collaboration with the Ministries of Foreign Affairs and the embassies of both countries present next 20th June the second edition of the Spain-Thailand Forum will be held in the Pavilion of the Cecilio Rodriguez Gardens in Madrid (Paseo del Uruguay, 5) and will bring together representatives of civil society, public administrations and the energy and security sector of both countries.
This forum for dialogue and cooperation, which was held for the first time in Bangkok last year, is a platform for meeting and dialogue whose main objective is to strengthen bilateral relations, especially in the areas described above, but also in the promotion of the country brand, in addition to exploring opportunities for collaboration and boosting relations between the respective civil societies.
The 2nd Spain-Thailand Forum is structured around three round tables, in addition to the opening and closing speeches. The first round table will address maritime security and cooperation in the Indo-Pacific. The second will look at innovation in the field of renewable energy and the opportunities this sector presents for the two countries, while the third and final session will focus on best practices in country branding.
Both delegations are headed by the Secretary of State for Foreign and Global Affairs of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, European Union and Cooperation, Diego Martínez Belío, and by the Director General of the Department of European Affairs of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Thailand, Krongkanit Rakcharoen. Also attending will be the Director General of Casa Asia, Javier Parrondo, the Director of the International Studies Centre (ISC), Anuson Chinvanno, as well as the Ambassador of Spain in Thailand, Felipe de la Morena, and of Thailand in Spain, Vosita Vorasaph.
Representatives from the Ministries of Foreign Affairs, the European Union and Cooperation, Defence, ACCIONA, Repsol Renovables, the Instituto Real Elcano, the Leading Brands of Spain Forum, Acción Cultural Española, and the EFE news agency will take part in the Forum’s various sessions. On the Thai side, representatives from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, International Studies Centre (affiliated to DVIFA), Thammasat University, Electricity Generating Authority of ThailandT (EGAT), Gulf Energy Development Public Company Limited (Gulf), and the Creative Economy Agency will participate.
