The King will chair tomorrow the Meeting of Presidencies of Associations of Universities of the Ibero-American Space, organized by the Ibero-American General Secretariat (SEGIB) and the Conference of Rectors of Spanish Universities (CRUE), which celebrates his 30th anniversary this year.
The event will take place at the headquarters of the Instituto Cervantes in Madrid and will be preceded by the deposit of the legacy of the CRUE, the Caja de las Letras of this institution, which will be collected by the director of the Cervantes, Luis García Montero, from the hands of Eva Alcón , president of the CRUE and rector of the Jaume I University of Castellón.
The CRUE, established in 1994, is a meeting space for 77 associated universities, 50 public and 27 private. It is the main interlocutor of universities with the Government of Spain and plays a key role in all regulatory developments that affect higher education in our country.
After the legacy, Felipe VI will preside in the Cervantes Dome room at the Meeting of Presidencies of Associations of Universities of the Ibero-American Space, an event organized by the CRUE and the SEGIB, in collaboration with the Ibero-American University Council (CUIB), which will host the celebration of its XXIII Plenary Session on June 4 and 5.
García Montero, Eva Alcón, the Secretary of State for Science, Innovation and Universities, Juan Cruz; the Ibero-American secretary general, Andrés Allamand, and representatives of CUIB member institutions, as well as rectors of Spanish and Ibero-American universities, will participate in this event.
The Ibero-American University Council (CUIB) was established in Cartagena de Indias (Colombia), on November 21, 2002. It is a non-governmental organization that is configured as a network of networks of Ibero-American universities. It is made up of national organizations representing universities and other higher education institutions of the countries that make up the Ibero-American community of nations: Argentina, Bolivia, Brazil, Chile, Colombia, Costa Rica, Cuba, Ecuador, El Salvador, Spain, Guatemala , Honduras, Mexico, Nicaragua, Panama, Paraguay, Peru, Portugal, Dominican Republic, Uruguay and Venezuela.
