Don Felipe was received at the foot of the plane by the Minister of Foreign Affairs, Alexandra Hill Tinoco, along with a delegation of representatives of the Salvadoran Government.
The monarch traveled to San Salvador accompanied by the State Secretary for Ibero-America, the Caribbean and Spanish in the World, Susana Sumelzo. As in the case of the inauguration last November of the Argentine president, Javier Milei, he was not accompanied by the Minister of Foreign Affairs, José Manuel Albares. This concluded his participation in a NATO ministerial meeting in Prague yesterday.
The King’s agenda for yesterday afternoon included a meeting with Nayib Bukele, at whose first inauguration, in 2019, Don Felipe was not present and the Spanish representation was carried out by the then president of the Senate, Manuel Cruz.
During his stay in San Salvador, the Monarch will coincide with other Ibero-American leaders, including Javier Milei, shortly after the open crisis between Spain and Argentina, following the withdrawal by the Spanish Government of the ambassador in Buenos Aires, in response to the accusations. of corruption made by the Argentine president in Madrid against Begoña Gómez, wife of the head of the Spanish Executive, Pedro Sánchez.
No meeting between the King and Milei was planned, but it cannot be ruled out that a greeting will take place when both coincide in the ceremony, which will also be attended by, among others, the president of Ecuador, Daniel Noboa; that of Costa Rica, Rodrigo Chaves; and that of Honduras, Xiomara Castro.
