This concert, created by the Chinese Folk Music Orchestra of the National Opera and Dance Drama Theatre of China, will present a programme combining traditional classical works with new contemporary folk music, as well as innovative interpretations of works performed on Chinese and Western instruments, expressing the diversified styles of Chinese folk music and demonstrating the innovation and development of Chinese folk music.
Founded in 1950, the Chinese Folk Music Orchestra, attached to the National Opera and Dance Drama Theatre, is one of the oldest professional Chinese folk music ensembles in China. Throughout its history, the Orchestra has developed a unique artistic style. Thanks to its musical diversity and expressiveness, it has become one of the most outstanding national orchestras of Chinese music. It has performed on major international stages in more than 40 countries and regions, including Germany, Switzerland, Hungary, Austria, Australia, New Zealand and many Central Asian nations.
