The Minister of Foreign Affairs, José Manuel Albares, received yesterday in Madrid his Honduran counterpart, Eduardo Enrique Reina, with whom he signed an agreement for the promotion of Spanish in the diplomatic field and international organizations.
“Productive meeting with my counterpart from Honduras, Eduardo Enrique Reina. We have addressed our bilateral relations and the Ibero-American Community of Nations. We have signed an agreement for the promotion of Spanish in diplomacy and international organizations and another for the exchange of driving licenses,” Albares declared through the X social network X.
Under the agreement, the two countries undertake to promote the presence and recognition of the Spanish language in diplomacy and international organizations, especially in the United Nations system, as well as in the legal sector and international arbitration.
This is the fourth bilateral agreement signed for this purpose in the last two months, after those signed on March 6 with the Foreign Minister of Panama, Janaina Tewaney; on April 15 with the Minister of Foreign Affairs of El Salvador, Alexandra Hill Tinoco; and on April 23 with the head of Costa Rican diplomacy, Arnoldo André Tinoco.
For its part, the Honduran Foreign Ministry described the signing of the Reciprocal Recognition agreement and the Exchange of National Driving Licenses as a “historic event for the Honduran community residing in Spain.” “This achievement represents the desire that the Honduran community has waited for in Spain for more than twenty years,” declared Reina. The Honduran ambassador to Spain, Marlon Brevé, was also present at the signing ceremony.
