The Spanish Government insisted yesterday on demanding an end to the operation that the Israeli Army undertook in recent days in the city of Rafah, in the south of the Gaza Strip.
This was claimed yesterday in a message on his social network X account by the Minister of Foreign Affairs, José Manuel Albares, who pointed out that “the military operation in Rafáh must stop and avoid an even more serious humanitarian crisis.”
On behalf of the Executive, Albares described as “unacceptable” the evacuation of thousands of Palestinians, which is taking place after Israel has taken control of the Palestinian side of the Rafáh crossing. The Israeli Army has unleashed attacks in several parts of the west of the city, until now the last refuge of hundreds of thousands of Palestinians forcibly displaced during previous months from other parts of the enclave.
Israeli authorities estimate that 300,000 residents of Rafah have been forced to move east to escape this new offensive that could precede a large-scale incursion.
After denouncing this displacement, Albares demanded “compliance with International Humanitarian Law, the protection of civilians and access to humanitarian aid.”
