Next Sunday 19 May at 12 noon in the Symphonic Hall of the Auditorio Nacional de Música in Madrid, the Fundación Excelentia presents the concert Morricone and 100 years of cinema, in which a tribute will be paid to the Italian composer and conductor and to the best soundtracks composed for celluloid.
A unique opportunity to enjoy the most famous soundtracks of all time, from Casablanca and Gone with the Wind to the present day, performed by the Royal Film Concert Orchestra, conducted by maestro Fernando Furones.
Ennio Morricone is known for having composed the soundtracks for more than five hundred films and television series. He received an honorary Oscar in 2006 and won the Oscar for Best Score in 2016 for The Hateful Eight. In 2020, he was awarded the Princess of Asturias Award for the Arts, shared with fellow composer John Williams.
The concert programme includes music from films such as The Good, the Bad and the Ugly, Cinema Paradiso, The Mission, Novecento, For a Few Dollars More, The Ecstasy of Gold, The Lord of the Rings, Forrest Gump, Pirates of the Caribbean, Lawrence of Arabia, Out of Africa, Gone with the Wind, Titanic, Conan the Barbarian, The Godfather, Moon River, The Great Escape, Casablanca and Ben-Hur.
