The President of the Government, Pedro Sánchez, held a telephone conversation yesterday with the President of Ukraine, Volodimir Zelensky, with whom he agreed on the importance of the Peace Conference for Ukraine that will be held next month in Switzerland.

 

As reported by Moncloa in a press release, Sánchez reiterated Spain’s support for Ukraine “for as long as necessary” and conveyed to Zelensky his “firm condemnation” of the Russian attacks in recent days against the civilian population and against critical infrastructure. in all the country.

 

Likewise, both leaders agreed on the importance of the Peace Conference for Ukraine, which will be held next month in Switzerland, and the President of the Government shared with the Ukrainian president his support and “full participation” to support Ukraine’s position in favor of of a just and lasting peace based on respect for International Law.

 

Sánchez and Zelensky also addressed the situation in Ukraine and the “urgent and significant” increase in military support that Spain is providing to its Government, as well as the progress of the Security Agreement between both countries.

 

Likewise, the Minister of Foreign Affairs, José Manuel Albares, held a telephone conversation yesterday with his Polish counterpart, Radosław Sikorski, with whom he addressed “European unity around Ukraine.” “We support Ukraine in its defense of peace and its sovereignty for as long as necessary,” the minister declared through the X social network.

 

On the other hand, the Minister of Defense, Margarita Robles, yesterday attended some of the practices carried out by the more than 200 Ukrainian soldiers who are currently receiving training at the Toledo Infantry Academy, within the framework of the European Military Assistance Mission to Ukraine (EUMAM UA).

 

Spain has contributed, to date, to the training of more than 4,000 Ukrainian combatants both in Toledo and elsewhere, within the Toledo Training Coordination Center (TTCC) structure, which directs and coordinates the mission. Around 2,500 Spanish soldiers from the Armies and Navy have participated as instructors and, together with the Civil Guard, will continue their mission, instructing hundreds more Ukrainian soldiers during the rest of the year, according to the Ministry of Defense in a press release.
