The president of CEAPI, Núria Vilanova, yesterday chaired a working lunch of the Secretary of State for Ibero-America and the Caribbean and Spanish in the World, Susana Sumelzo, with the most important businessmen in Ibero-America, in which the relations between Spain and Latin America.
During the meeting, Núria Vilanova emphasized the importance of Ibero-America in the current geostrategy and more specifically in the global economic moment, “which has increased the interest of new countries that until now were not so relevant in the region, such as the Middle East, India, Philippines, or those that were already there but want to intensify their presence, such as Germany, Italy, France, the United Kingdom, Japan, Korea.” “As the president of the IDB, Ilian Goldlfain, said, before Latin America needed the world, now the world needs Latin America,” she added.
For his part, the Ibero-American Secretary General, Andrés Allamand, who also participated in the meeting, focused on the “geostrategic” relationships that Europe and Latin America must lead and that must be strengthened with the intensification of the presence of the Chinese economy in the region. “European financing, technology and investments in Latin America must contribute to shaping an economy capable of adding value to natural wealth,” he stated.
