On the occasion of Europe Day, tomorrow Tuesday at 10:30 a.m., the 4th edition of the Hispanic-Romanian Day of Culture and Documentation: Romania in a European Context will be held in the Conference Room of the Faculty of Documentation Sciences (calle Santísima Trinidad, 37, Madrid).

The Instituto Rumano de Cultura (IRC) and the Romanian Embassy, in collaboration with the Faculty of Documentation Sciences of the Complutense University of Madrid, the Directorate General for Cooperation with the State and the European Union of the Community of Madrid and the European Documentation Centre of the Community of Madrid, are organising this edition, an academic project with the aim of highlighting the presence of Romanian culture in the Hispanic area and promoting the image of Romania in the European context.

On this occasion, the Guía de autores europeos: Rumanía will be presented, the first publication in Spanish of the Centro de Documentación Europea de la Comunidad de Madrid, produced in collaboration with the ICR Madrid, which is dedicated to the culture and promotion of Romania, a member state of the European Union. The publication opens an extensive collection dedicated to the literature of EU member states.

The aim of this guide is to provide some examples of Romanian culture in the form of narrative, essays, poetry, cinema, music and visual art, translated into Spanish, which serve to bring citizens closer to Romania as a member state of the European Union. It marks the beginning of a series of publications that will showcase the authors of the different countries that make up the European Union, as their knowledge can help integration into the European project, accepting its diversity.

Within the 50 pages of the guide, the reader will discover information and presentations of the most outstanding Romanian authors, poets and writers, artists and film-makers, Romanian musicians and musicians recognised at European level. A special chapter is dedicated to the city of Timișoara – European Capital of Culture in 2023.

All the information about the programme of the event can be found here.
