The former Minister of Health and current MEP Dolors Monserrat will once again head the PP list of candidates for the European Parliament elections on 9 June, as confirmed yesterday by the leader of this political party, Alberto Núñez Feijóo, at an event in Figueres (Girona).
The election of Dolors Monserrat as ‘number 1’ on the list of the ‘populares’ was practically a certainty, while other names that will make up the candidacy were becoming known.
The Catalan politician already headed the PP’s candidacy in the 2019 elections, and Feijóo has decided to bet on her this time as well.
In the ‘number two’ position on the list will be the Andalusian Minister of Agriculture, Fisheries, Water and Rural Development, Carmen Crespo. And the former Minister of the Interior, Juan Ignacio Zoido, will repeat his candidacy in the 14th position.
Esteban González Pons, the PP’s Deputy Secretary for Institutional Action, is also expected to be in one of the top positions, and will also lead the campaign for the elections on 9 June.
It was announced a few days ago that three of the current Ciudadanos MEPs will join the list: Adrián Vázquez, who was the former Secretary General of the orange party, and his colleagues Susana Solís and Eva Poptcheva. Vázquez and Solís will be in positions that are considered to be safe, in the top 20.
Diplomat Nicolás Pascual de la Parte, former ambassador to NATO, will be in the 21st position, and the economist Fernando Navarrete, until now director of the cabinet of the governor of the Bank of Spain, Pablo Hernández de Cos, has also been confirmed as a candidate.
The philosopher and writer Fernando Savater will close the list on a testimonial basis.
