Javier de Istúriz, appointed ambassador of Spain in Oman

The Council of Ministers yesterday appointed Javier de Istúriz ambassador of Spain in Oman, as The Diplomat had anticipated.

 

Javier de Istúriz, current Chief of Staff of the Undersecretary of Foreign Affairs, Luis Cuesta, and who will replace María Luisa Huidrobro, entered the Diplomatic Career in 1997, has held second positions in the Spanish Embassies in kyiv, Seoul and Hanoi and He has been stationed at the diplomatic representations in Tokyo and Washington.

 

In addition, he has been Deputy Director General of Bilateral Economic Relations and Economic Diplomacy, Deputy Deputy Director General at the Gibraltar Office and Deputy Head of Protocol at the Household of His Majesty the King.

 

In the central services he has served in the cabinet of the Secretary of State for International Cooperation and for Ibero-America, as deputy head of the Gibraltar Affairs Office, deputy director general of Bilateral Economic Relations and Economic Diplomacy and director of the Technical Cabinet of the Undersecretary of Foreign Affairs.

 

On the other hand, the Council of Ministers appointed Ángel Antonio Carrascal, residing in Conakry, as ambassador to Sierra Leone. Member of the Diplomatic Career since 2009, he has held the position of ambassador of Spain in the Republic of Guinea since November 2023.
