The Government yesterday expressed its rejection of the death penalty sentence in Iran of the rapper Toomaj Salehi, arrested in October 2022 for participating in the protests over the death of the young Mahsa Amini.

Through its account on the social network X, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs stated that “Spain rejects the death penalty in any circumstance and in all countries of the world,” after the Iranian Justice sentenced the death penalty on Wednesday. to the rapper

Toomaj Salehi was arrested, in October 2022, during anti-government protests over the death of the young Mahsa Amini, for “corruption on earth” and “enmity with God.”

His lawyer, Amir Raisian, confirmed to the Sharg Daily that Salehi was convicted under Article 286 of the Iranian Penal Code on a series of charges including sedition, anti-establishment propaganda and inciting chaos.
