The President of the Government, Pedro Sánchez, spoke yesterday by telephone with the Ukrainian President, Volodimir Zelensky, to whom he promised the delivery of “new capabilities” to help Ukraine defend itself from the invasion of Russia.
As reported by Sánchez on his social network X account, in his conversation with Zelensky, he reiterated that “Spain’s firm support will be maintained as long as it is necessary.”
Furthermore, the head of the Executive assured that Spain will deliver in 2024 “new capabilities to help Ukraine defend itself from Russian aggression, which has already lasted more than two years.”
“Spain and Ukraine work together for a just and lasting peace, which respects the essential principles of the United Nations Charter. We support a future Peace Summit that must have broad international support,” said Sánchez.
For his part, Zelensky, in his usual afternoon speech, reported on the conversation with Sánchez and described the support of the Spanish Executive as “unwavering.”
The Ukrainian president explained that he had spoken with the Prime Minister and that they had focused on air defense for Ukraine, “since we need – he wrote – more units.”
And after pointing out that they also discussed cooperation with our country at a bilateral level and in the European institutions, he stated: “I am grateful to Spain for its unwavering support and our common faith that life must triumph.”
