Juan Bolívar Díaz, ambassador of the Dominican Republic, has been awarded the prestigious PEOPLE 10 prize in recognition of his exceptional work and dedication to promoting equal opportunities between women and men and cultural diversity.
The award, presented at a ceremony held on Tuesday 19 March at Casa América, was received by the Minister Counsellor, Carmen Amelia Cedeño, on behalf of Ambassador Díaz, who was on official business in Valencia. The prize was awarded by the Association of Ibero-American Businesswomen (AMEIB) in commemoration of Women’s Day in the framework of the II International Congress “EUROES 21th CENTURY: Spanish and Latin American Women Europarliamentarians in their fight against xenophobia and racism”. This event brought together a notable selection of political, business and media leaders, as well as special guests from various embassies and international organisations.
In addition to Ambassador Juan Bolívar Díaz, Fuencisla Clemares Sempere, CEO of Google for Spain and Portugal; Paula Gómez-Angulo Amorós, Councillor President of the Municipal District of Tetuán in Madrid; Ana María Choquehuanca De Villanueva, Minister of Production of the Government of the Republic of Peru; Narciso Casado Martín, Permanent Secretary of the CEIB and Director General of CEOE International, received the award; Amapola Blasco Marhuenda, Director General of Humanitarian Attention and the International Protection Reception System of the Ministry of Inclusion, Social Security and Migration of the Government of Spain; Tomás Burgos Gallego, Deputy Minister of Presidency, Interior, Social Dialogue and Administrative Simplification of the Regional Government of Andalusia; Bárbara García Torijano, Minister of Social Welfare of the Government of Castilla-La Mancha; Andrés Allamand, Ibero-American Secretary General -SEGIB; Ana Dávila Ponce De León, Minister of Family, Youth and Social Affairs of the Community of Madrid.
The award on this occasion was represented by an Hourglass, as “a tangible reminder that time never stands still and this leads the individual to take advantage of it in making decisions that favour society as a whole”.
