To celebrate Francophonie Day, the Instituto Francés in Madrid is welcoming, in partnership with the French-speaking embassies, the artists of Battle BD for a Battle of Francophone comic strips this evening at 19.30, with a tasting of specialities from French-speaking countries from 20.30 onwards.
Battle BD or Battle of comic strips is a company of artists specialising in live drawing. As in a game of improvisation, the authors compete on stage through drawing. The presenter, Tony Curien, guided by suggestions from the audience, imposes a theme on them. In the framework of the Francophonie, the theme will be French-speaking expressions, chosen by the participating French-speaking embassies. In three minutes, the artists produce a poetic, funny, lighthearted or even committed piece of work, to the rhythm of the DJ’s playlist. Their stunts must tell a story to convince the audience and be declared the winner.
This show, a real catalyst for artistic innovation, will highlight both the creativity of French-speaking artists and the diversity of the French language in the world. After the show, various gastronomic specialities from France, Andorra, Belgium, Switzerland, Tunisia, Canada and Haiti can be discovered in the Hall of the French Consulate, at the many stands of the participating embassies. Event in French without translation. Free of charge if you book in advance on this link.
