Within the framework of the exhibition Honduras with its arts, the Honduran Embassy organised a tasting of the Central American country’s speciality coffee , Gallo Coffee, on Thursday 14 March.
Carolina Valerio Paz, minister of the embassy pointed out that “coffee is the great promoter of the national economy, representing 5% of the Gross Domestic Product and 30% of the agricultural domestic product, with an economic spillover that impacts 1.7 million Hondurans directly and indirectly in coffee production. One hundred and two thousand family businesses also participate in its production”.
“Coffee is produced in 15 of Honduras’ 18 departments. The minister pointed out, and its production is recognised worldwide for its good quality. We are the sixth largest coffee exporter in the world and the third largest in Latin America. Coffee is Honduras’ main export product”.
The coffee tasting was enlivened by the performance Body Paint, by the Honduran artist Judith Pineda, who performed an exhibition of body painting alluding to coffee.
