The new ambassador of Ecuador, Wilma Andrade, has begun her mission in Spain, after having presented the Copies of her Letters of Credence at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, before the introducer of Ambassadors, María Sebastian de Erice.
Since her arrival in Madrid at the end of February, Wilma Andrade has already participated in several events related to Ecuador and has maintained contacts with different Spanish personalities. Likewise, she accompanied the president of the National Assembly of Ecuador, Henry Kronfle, on his visit to the presidents of the Congress of Deputies, Francina Armegol; and from the Senate, Pedro Rollán.
She also made a formal visit to the Ibero-American Secretary General, Andrés Allamand, with whom she exchanged ideas about the next Ibero-American Summit that will take place on November 15 in the Ecuadorian city of Cuenca.
Wilma Andrade, 67, former social democratic parliamentarian, was appointed ambassador after Daniel Noboa’s victory in the presidential elections last October.
Andrade, she chaired the Democratic Left party between 2015 and 2020, she was a parliamentarian in several periods since 2006. In the 2021-2023 legislature she was elected vice president of the Economic Development Commission of the National Assembly. She was also vice mayor of Quito.
Likewise, she was part of the World Forum of Women Parliamentarians, the ParlAméricas Open Parliament Network and the Permanent Conference of Latin American Parties.
