Once again this year, as part of the events surrounding Women’s Day, and as part of the Ellas Crean Festival, the Instituto Francés of Madrid is screening the 2019 film Marie Curie, directed by Marjane Satrapi and starring Rosamund Pike, next Monday 11 March at 8pm. Screening in the original version with Spanish subtitles.
This year, the Instituto Francés, with the complicity of the Instituto Polaco de Cultura, will pay tribute to the emblematic figure of Marie Curie through two screenings of films by French directors based on the life of the scientist.
Released in 2019, this film about the life of the Polish scientist is an adaptation of Lauren Redniss’s graphic novel Radioactive: Marie & Pierre Curie: A Tale of Love and Fallout. Pioneer, Rebel, Genius, Madame Curie is the incredible true story of the scientist and her Nobel Prize-winning work that changed the world forever. As she discovers unknown radioactive elements, it becomes increasingly clear that her research could lead to applications in medicine that could save thousands of lives, but also to uses in warfare that could destroy millions.
