The Diplomat
Last Wednesday, Taiwanese Ambassador Vivia Chang attended the official opening of the Art Madrid Contemporary Art Fair, in order to show her support for the artists who, until next Sunday, will be the protagonists of the Taiwan Art Week in Madrid 2024, organised by the Yiri Arts gallery in Taipei and with the support of the Taiwanese Ministry of Culture and the Taipei Economic and Cultural Office in Spain.
During the visit, Ambassador Chang was received by Alberto Cornejo, director of Art Madrid, and the artistic director of Art Madrid, Yudinela Ortega. Accompanied by the director of the Taipei Cultural Division in Spain, Augusta Chang, and Orton Huang, director of Yiri Arts, the delegation toured the Crystal Gallery of the Palacio de Cibeles to admire the Taiwanese works on display.
Vivia Chang thanked Yiri Arts for “the effort made both in this event in Madrid and in its general work to make visible and highlight the creative and innovative quality of Taiwanese art around the world”. For her part, Huang reciprocated her ambassador’s visit by expressing the gratitude of the entire artistic ensemble that makes up this initiative, and took the opportunity to invite Madrid residents and visitors “to come and discover and enjoy the innovative artistic proposals that we are presenting this year at Taiwan Art Week”.
The ambassador also sent her welcome to the creators, Chen Sheng-Weh and Keng Chieh-Sheng, who have arrived for the occasion from the island of Formosa, and who will be representing the seven artists whose works can be enjoyed this week at Art Madrid as well as at UVNT Art and Hybrid Art.
Madrilenians and visitors to the Spanish capital will be able to enjoy these works until the 10th in Room 118 of the Hotel Petit Palace Santa Bárbara, which this year Hybrid Art Fair has turned into its exhibition venue.
