Author: Thomas Schlesser

Tomorrow Thursday at 7pm at the Instituto Francés in Madrid, Los ojos de Mona (Mona’s Eyes), the new world literary phenomenon, will be presented in a literary meeting between the art historian and writer Thomas Schlesser and the screenwriter, film director and writer Ángeles González-Sinde. Event in French with simultaneous translation.

Mona’s Eyes is a passionate and moving philosophical novel that proposes an initiation to beauty and life in 52 masterpieces. A story full of beautiful feelings that has become an extraordinary publishing phenomenon even before its publication in France.

Fifty-two weeks: that is the time left for Mona, a ten-year-old girl, to treasure all the beauty in the world. It is the time her erudite and original grandfather has given himself to discover a work of art for her every Wednesday after school before she goes blind. So they set out together to visit the three great Parisian museums: Louvre, Orsay and Beaubourg (Pompidou Centre), and to immerse themselves in paintings and sculptures so that their own beauty and philosophical sense will permeate and be inscribed forever in the depths of Mona. Looking through the eyes of Botticelli, Vermeer, Goya, Frida Kahlo or Basquiat, the little girl will learn about generosity, doubt, melancholy, autonomy or indignation, and will incorporate her powerful learning into her daily life.
