The leader of the Popular Party, Alberto Núñez Feijóo, was received yesterday by the president of Romania, Klaus Iohannis, on the eve of the start of the European PP Congress being held in Bucharest and which will re-elect Ursula Von der Leyen as its candidate to preside. the European Commission in the elections on June 9.
In a message on his social networks, Feijóo made reference to the conclave and announced that the Spanish PP will defend in Bucharest its rejection of the amnesty law, as well as “strict measures” against corruption and “the demands” of the Spanish countryside.
In his meeting with Iohannis, the president of the PP expressed his support for Romanians living in Spain to be able to obtain dual nationality and celebrated that as of March 31, both Romania and Bulgaria will join the Schengen area.
Feijóo plans to meet today with Ursula von der Leyen, and hold a dozen bilateral meetings on the sidelines of the popular conclave. Thus he will meet with Andrés Pastrana, president of the IDC-CDI; Margaritis Schinas, vice president of the European Commission; Alexander Dobrindt, Chairman of the CSU Parliamentary Group and Fiedrich Merz, Chairman of the CDU.
Likewise, he will do so with Antonio Tajani, vice president of the Government of Italy; Boiko Borisov, former Prime Minister of Bulgaria; Iliana Ivanova, Commissioner for Innovation, Research, Culture, Education and Youth and Wopke Hoekstra, Commissioner for Climate Action.
