The war in Gaza between Israel and Hamas is marking a turning point in international politics and alliances in the Middle East, with serious consequences that extend from the humanitarian to the political, economic and social spheres, putting the development and stability of the entire region at risk. It is also a conflict that is forcing the European Union to act, and in which the Spanish government is showing a high profile.
Welcoming the audience will be Irene Lozano, Director of Casa Árabe, and taking part in the debate will be Ignacio Álvarez-Ossorio, Professor of Arab and Islamic Studies at the Complutense University; Olga Rodríguez, journalist and writer, and Hana Jalloul, Member of Congress, Socialist Group, with a special address by Alberto Ucelay, Director General for the Maghreb, the Mediterranean and the Middle East, MAEC (Spanish Ministry of Foreign Affairs).
