‘En mitad de tanto fuego’ a hymn to freedom, love and desire

On 7, 8 and 9 March at 7.30 p.m., the play En mitad de tanto fuego (In the middle of so much fire ) , a plea against all wars and a hymn to freedom, love and desire, written by Alberto Conejero, directed by Xavier Albertí and performed by Rubén de Eguía, returns to the Teatro del Barrio (Calle Zurita, 20).

Desire, war, desertion, power, violence, homeland, love? En mitad de tanto fuego deals with universal themes through the voice of Patroclus, Achilles’ comrade-in-arms. The text shares with the audience the beauty, mystery and darkness of an epic poem with which to discuss the human condition, linking different eras and voices from the past and present. And it does so through the character of Patroclus, who speaks to the audience about war, but also about love and friendship.

This play brings us closer to a fundamental work of classical Greek literature, The Iliad, showing the audience themes of all times such as love, friendship, death and war, because unfortunately, Troy is still burning. Tickets can be purchased at this link.
