The ambassador-director of the Diplomatic School, Santiago Miralles; and the president of the Madrid Press Association (APM), María Rey, inaugurated yesterday the VII Specialization Course in Diplomacy and International Relations.

31 journalists who are members of the APM participate in the course, who over three weeks will have the opportunity to complete their training on issues that affect Spanish foreign policy and international relations.

Santiago Miralles expressed his satisfaction at celebrating the seventh edition of a course that was launched in July 2017, and stressed that the objective is to open the world of diplomacy “so that journalists can better practice their profession.”

María Rey, for her part, reiterated the commitment of the APM Board of Directors to the training of its associates, through this type of courses, which have the objective of providing journalists with a better knowledge of the different realities to make your work better.

This seventh edition of the Specialization Course in Diplomacy and International Relations will be taught by university professors, diplomats and journalists from February 26 to March 14 (Monday to Thursday) at the headquarters of the Diplomatic School.

The activity has a total of 42 theoretical-practical hours and includes institutional visits, including a meeting with the German ambassador in Madrid.

Students will be able to learn what the axes of Spain’s foreign policy are; the communication plans of the Embassies; what is the mission of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, European Union and Cooperation of Spain; who protects Spaniards abroad against contingencies; the question of Western Sahara; Spain’s position in current conflicts such as those in Ukraine and Gaza; Spanish cooperation policy, and relations with Latin America and the Caribbean, North America, Sub-Saharan Africa or Asia Pacific.
