The Fundación Excelentia presents a tribute to the operatic composer Giacomo Puccini on Sunday 3 March at 11.30 am in the Chamber Hall of the Auditorio Nacional de Música in Madrid, on the 100th anniversary of his death.
An Italian composer, Puccini was an heir to the great Italian lyric tradition, but at the same time open to other currents and styles typical of the turn of the century, Puccini became the great dominator of the international lyric scene during the first decades of the 20th century.
Soprano Ruth Terán, tenor Miguel Borrallo, and baritone Manuel Mas, together with pianist Francisco Pérez Sánchez, will perform such famous pieces as Recondita Armonia, from Tosca; O mio babbino caro, from Gianni Schicchi; Questo amor vergogna mia, from Edgar; Mimi! Speravo di trovarti qui, from La Bohème; Nessun Dorma, from Turandot; E lucevan le stelle, from Tosca, or Nulla, Silenzio! from Il Tabarro, among others. Tickets for this tribute can be purchased at this link.
