To commemorate the 65th anniversary of the Instituto Cubano de Arte e Industria Cinematográfica (ICAIC), the Cuban Embassy is presenting tomorrow at its headquarters (Paseo de La Habana, 194) an exhibition of Cuban posters, accompanied by the screening of a locally produced film.

The Instituto Cubano de Arte e Industria Cinematográficos (ICAIC), Cuba’s film institute, was founded in 1959; its aim is to promote the medium of film through a wide range of activities, including film and television production. The ICAIC also presents numerous screenings of locally and internationally produced films throughout Cuba each year. A unique poster, designed by a Cuban graphic artist, is created for each of these screenings.

ICAIC prints most of its originally designed film posters as 20×30 inch screen prints. These posters are distributed throughout Cuba and highlight the important role that cinema and the visual arts play in Cuba today.
