Tomorrow Wednesday at 7 p.m. in the auditorium of the Instituto Cervantes in Madrid (c/ Alcalá, 49), a face-to-face and online activity will take place, the culmination of the cycle that has accompanied the exhibition Las palabras de un secreto. Pilar de Valderrama, which will be devoted to the author’s poetry.
The activity consists of a guided tour of the exhibition, which will take place at 18:00, followed by a round table discussion in the auditorium at 19:00.
Pilar de Valderrama combined her work as a playwright and as a poet, which began with her book Las piedras de Horeb ( 1923) and culminated with the posthumous publication of the collection of poems De mar a mar ( 1984). Also noteworthy in her poetic facet is the relationship that united her with Antonio Machado. The poet was Machado’s great muse in his final years, the main driving force behind his creativity. Pilar de Valderrama, known in Machado’s compositions as Guiomar, was a point of inspiration for the Sevillian poet, and, in the same way, Machado’s imprint permeated Valderrama’s poetics, influencing his creations.
Alicia Viladomat, granddaughter of Pilar de Valderrama, Raquel Lanseros, poet, and the journalists and poets Javier Lostalé and Carlos Aganzo will take part in the round table.
