The King Felipe VI and the President of the Government, Pedro Sánchez, received yesterday in Madrid a delegation of relatives of those kidnapped by Hamas in the Gaza Strip after the terrorist attacks of October 7, 2023. The ambassador of Hamas was present at both meetings. Israel in Spain, Rodica Radian-Gordon.

On the one hand, Pedro Sánchez received at the La Moncloa Complex eight relatives of the kidnapped people and a hostage who was released during one of the temporary pauses in the hostilities between Israel and Hamas. During the meeting, as reported by Moncloa in a press release, the President of the Government learned “first-hand the painful testimonies of the families” and exchanged with the relatives his vision of the conflict and the possible solutions that both Spain and the international community to achieve the immediate release of the hostages who remain in the hands of Hamas.

In this sense, Sánchez conveyed the position that the Government of Spain has maintained from the beginning: “strong condemnation of the atrocious terrorist attacks committed by Hamas on October 7 and request for the immediate and unconditional release of all the hostages,” Moncloa continued.

“Spain has worked from the beginning to find a definitive solution to this conflict that stops the spiral of violence in the Middle East, advocating for an immediate ceasefire, the release of all hostages and the holding of an international Peace Conference that materializes the two-state solution, Israel and Palestine, that coexist in peace and security,” the press release concluded.

Subsequently, King Felipe VI received in audience at the La Zarzuela Palace the delegation of relatives of those kidnapped by Hamas, who attended the meeting accompanied by the Undersecretary of Foreign Affairs, European Union and Cooperation, Luis Manuel Cuesta Civis, and by the Ambassador Rodica Radian-Gordon.

The Israeli Embassy in Spain yesterday began a campaign to remember the hostages, in which it requests the dissemination of an image through social networks to denounce the “four months of nightmare.” “123 days. 136 kidnapped. There is no time to lose. Show your solidarity with the hostages and their families by using this image on your social networks,” writes the Embassy through its official account on the social network X, in which it adds the hashtags #BringThemBackHomeNow #Liberadlos.
