Aena and the European Investment Bank (EIB) have signed a loan of 140 million euros to finance the improvement of the security and operational resilience of Spanish airports.
The signed loan is the third tranche corresponding to financing approved in 2022 for a total amount of 800 million euros, of which Aena has disbursed 200 million, according to a press release.
The main investments financed are aimed at safety and security initiatives, including runway work and redesign of taxiways to adapt them to the latest updates from the European Aviation Safety Agency (EASA) and the renewal of the system. aircraft parking apron lighting.
Likewise, the financing will be used for investments related to the rehabilitation of pavements in the area of operations, the renewal of emergency control systems, the replacement of aircraft boarding bridges, the supply and installation of safety filter equipment, among others.
Other Aena projects to which this financing can be allocated are those based on information technologies and innovation.
