The PP has launched an offensive to demand, both at national and European level, greater defense of Spanish transporters who are suffering attacks from French farmers as they pass through France.
Yesterday, in Madrid, the Popular Group presented in the Congress of Deputies and the Senate requests for the appearance of the Ministers of Agriculture, Luis Planas; of Foreign Affairs, José Manuel Albares; and Transport, Óscar Puente, to explain the actions they are taking in order to protect transporters.
VOX, for its part, has also requested that Planas and Puente come to give explanations in Congress.
Furthermore, the PP has also mobilized at the European level and its spokesperson in the Eucrocamaram, Dolors Monserrat, and the MEP Juan Ignacio Zoido met yesterday with the Transport Commissioner, Adina Valean, whom they asked to guarantee the safety of Spanish transporters.
Yesterday, the Minister of Transport, Óscar Puente, also met in Brussels with Adina Valean, to whom he expressed the Spanish Government’s concern about the serious consequences that the alterations and cuts to the main communication routes are having for our country’s transporters. in France, due to the protests of French farmers.
The ‘popular’, who denounce “inaction” on the part of the Government, urge Spanish ministers to meet with their French counterparts. And, specifically, the party’s deputy secretary of Sustainable Development, Paloma Martín, asked Luis Planas to speak with his French colleague, especially after Prime Minister Gabriel Attal’s accusations of unfair competition against Spain.
After stating that there are currently thousands of Spanish trucks loaded, mostly with fresh agricultural products, the PP says that the Government “must react and protect the general interest” and emphasizes: “Farmers and transporters must be defended by their Government , which is now more concerned with satisfying its pro-independence partners.”
