The president of Kenya, William Ruto, approved last November the appointment of Nairimas Sharon Ole Sein, as that country’s new ambassador to Spain.

Nairimas Sharon Ole Sein will replace Michael Adipo Okoth Oyugi in the position, who arrived in Madrid in August 2022 and who returned to Kenya last December, less than a year and a half after her appointment. Michael Oyugi had been appointed by the country’s previous president, Uhuru Kenyatta.

The new ambassador, who will arrive in Madrid in a short period of time, has a long career as a diplomat, which began in 1997. When her appointment took place, she was the head of Chancery at the Kenyan Embassy in Stockholm and was previously also assigned to the Embassies in Washington and Tokyo.

Likewise, she worked in the European and Commonwealth Directorate and was personal advisor to the Foreign Office Cabinet Secretary and Protocol Officer.
