Nature, history, gastronomy, sports In front of a large representation of Spanish tour operators, Uruguay’s Minister of Tourism, Tabaré Viera, highlighted the attractions, including tax reductions such as VAT reductions, that his country offers tourists, in addition to its exuberant nature, rich history and first-class gastronomy.
The direct flights that currently connect Montevideo and Madrid are another reason to trust in the take-off of a sector that in 2022 had a 71% growth in foreign investors, according to data provided by the Uruguayan Chamber of Commerce.
In addition, the Uruguayan authorities aim to position the new Montevideo airport as a hub for interconnection with other South American destinations, so that travellers can take advantage of their stay to link up with other nearby countries.
The minister stressed that Uruguay offers security, both to tourists and to investors who want to participate in the tourism sector, during the presentation of the ‘Experimente Uruguay’ campaign, which took place at the Gustos restaurant in the centre of Madrid.
“Uruguay is a safe country, with clear rules and good opportunities for investors in the tourism sector,” he said.
