On the occasion of Tunisia’s participation in FITUR 2024, last Wednesday the ambassador of the Maghreb country, Fatma Omrani Chargui, welcomed prominent tour operators and travel agencies to her residence, in the presence of the director of the Tunisian National Tourist Office, Leila Tekaia.
During the event, co-organised with Tunisia Inspira and Tunisia Airlines, the Tunisian ambassador highlighted the tourist attractions of her country. “During the three years that I have been in office, we have started to emerge from a very difficult period resulting from the pandemic, in which we are now seeing the end of the tunnel of the nightmare that those days were for the tourism sector. This has led the Embassy to decide to hold this event and to start a new presentation of Tunisian tourism, thanks also to the support of the main companies in the sector”.
The ambassador highlighted the support received by the private sector not only for the best known tourism in her country, such as spas, beaches or sun, but also to participate in the tourism offered by Tunisia “with its 3,000 years of history, its gastronomy, cities with magnificent beauty. These are the pillars on which we want to collaborate with you, with sustainable tourism that brings more wealth to a people who have developed it”.
To conclude, and before going on to taste some very tasty dishes typical of Tunisian gastronomy, Ambassador Omrani pointed out the project that is being carried out between the Ministry of Tourism, the OECD and the European Union concerning “the Culinary Routes, of which there are six: The Cheese Route, in the north; the Wine Route, in the centre; the Olive and Oil Route, the Octopus Route, the Date Route, in the south, and the Harissa Route, which are not only products, but offer a unique experience for the visitor. ”
