Foreign Minister José Manuel Albares spoke yesterday with his Omani counterpart, Badr al Busaidi, about the humanitarian situation in Gaza and the effects on the Middle East, he posted on his X account yesterday.

Albares said in his post that “a ceasefire is necessary and to prevent an escalation in the region. Spain works for peace and the two-state solution”.

Badr al Busaidi, thanked Spain’s “noble position” towards “the just Palestinian cause”, since, according to a statement from his department, the Spanish government “has sought to stop the violence in the Gaza Strip from the first moment of the war”.

“Both sides discussed the efforts made to contain the current escalation in the region and to focus on exerting all pressures aimed at stopping the violence and Israel’s indiscriminate war in the Gaza Strip,” the statement said.

Likewise, they addressed “cooperative relations between the two friendly countries and emphasised their continued development in all fields”.
