A first group of fifty relatives of Ukrainian soldiers who died in combat against Russian forces arrived yesterday in Valencia within the framework of the humanitarian aid commitment assumed by Spain with Ukraine, according to the Ministry of Defense.
This first rotation, made up mostly of women and children, has been transported by means of the Ministry of Defense from Poland and housed in military rest residences on the Mediterranean coast for a period of fifteen days. It is planned that another seven rotations of this type will be carried out over the coming months, to provide support in total to half a thousand family members.
This support, announced by the Minister of Defense, Margarita Robles, before the Contact Group for the Defense of Ukraine, responds to an express request from the Ukrainian authorities. “This action is part of the comprehensive support that Spain has been providing to Ukraine from the very beginning, paying great attention to the humanitarian dimension, with support such as care for the wounded and especially vulnerable families in national territory, the training of medical personnel and health or the current reception of relatives of combatants who have fallen in combat,” the Ministry said.
