The Embassy of Colombia recommends Faces of Carnival, a photographic exhibition by Danilo Acosta Salvadores, which opens tomorrow Thursday at 7 p.m. at the Madrid World Gallery Xperience (Calle Miguel Ángel, 33). The exhibition will be on display until 15 March.
This exhibition is conceived to show the beautiful portraits of the carnavaleros that Danilo photographed during the Carnival of Barranquilla 2020 in the Colombian Caribbean. The photographer reveals his hometown through its inhabitants, who live four days of unbridled celebration, characterised by dance, colour and joy.
Through the portraits he highlights the characteristic faces and characters, showing the variety of costumes, the diversity of dance troupes and their wide range of vibrant colours, along with the colourful characters who dance and perform to the rhythm of the drums. The faces reflect the effort and joy that each of the carnival participants invests in elevating the name of the festival.
From a very young age, Danilo Acosta understood that the best way to communicate was through photography. He took his first steps in the world of video and photography during his adolescence in his hometown: Barranquilla (Colombia), while exploring other worlds with his camera. His eyes matured visually as he grew up and travelled to various countries around the world, which changed his style and narrative as he encountered wonderful people and portraits.
