Casa Asia resumes the programme of the series New Views of Asian Cinema in Madrid, from next Saturday 20th January at 12 noon at the MK2 Cine Paz (Calle de Fuencarral, 125), with the intention of giving continuity to the exhibition of a cinema that has ceased to be an exception to be increasingly present in national and international festivals or simply in the annual programme of our cinemas. Ticket price: 6 euros.
With its different cinematographies and without its cultural identity being the object of objections of any kind, Asian cinema has managed to impose itself on Spanish audiences. The promotion of the majority of productions from more remote geographies has contributed to normalising the interest in global cinema, beyond the physical and virtual borders that have often separated film production between continents into blocks.
Nine titles from Australia, Bangladesh, China, India, Iran, Kazakhstan, Nepal, the Philippines, Nepal and Sri Lanka make up the selection that we present in order to offer new options and articulate visions that provide the spectator with information and knowledge. The programme begins with the screening of My First Summer (pictured) on the 20th, and continues with A Father’s Diary from Bangladesh (27th), Streetwise from China (3rd February), Latay (Battered Husband) from the Philippines (10th February), Cold from India and Bone Marrow from Iran (17th and 24th), The Girl and the Sea from Kazakhstan (2nd March), Bulbul from Nepal (9th March) and Alborada from Sri Lanka (16th March).
