The jester in the Italian imagination: from the commedia dell’arte to the cinema is the title of the meeting organised by the Instituto Italiano de Cultura next Thursday at 7 p.m., as part of the parallel activities organised in collaboration with the Teatro Real in Madrid and the cycle of meetings Italia all’opera. The event will be held in Italian.

With the assistance of the Director of the Madrid Institute, Marialuisa Pappalardo, there will be an excursus on the role of the ‘buffoon’ and his presence in the history of Italian culture, starting with his characterisation in the commedia dell’arte, passing through opera and ending in cinema. As concrete examples, the meeting will be based on Rigoletto, Verdi’s masterpiece, which was on stage at the Teatro Real until 2 January.

Free admission with prior reservation by writing to alessandra.maluorni@esteri.it and indicating name, surname and contact telephone number of all persons for whom the reservation is requested, with the subject “11 January”.
