The Instituto Cervantes and Ediciones El País, SL, have signed a collaboration agreement to promote the teaching and learning of the Spanish language abroad.
The agreement was signed on December 21 in Madrid by the director of the Instituto Cervantes, Luis Manuel García Montero, and the representative of Ediciones El País, SL, José Luis Gómez Mosquera, and was published last Thursday by the Official State Gazette (BOE).
Under the agreement, El País will offer a contribution in kind, valued at six thousand euros, for the development of the cultural and academic activities of the Instituto Cervantes centers abroad, providing resources and content for the teaching of Spanish in these centers. and resources and materials to the libraries of the Institute’s centers abroad and its Electronic Library. El País‘ contributions will begin from the entry into force of the agreement and will end on December 31, 2024.
Specifically, El País will offer three months of free access with no subsequent commitment to all the content of El País Digital for all students who sign up for courses and all teachers who teach at the Instituto Cervantes. Users with a valid Cervantes library card and a license from its Electronic Library and candidates for the Diploma of Spanish as a Foreign Language (DELE) and the Constitutional and Sociocultural Knowledge of Spain (CCSE) will also benefit from this offer.
The Instituto Cervantes undertakes to insert the brand, name or logo provided by El País in the materials, communications or web pages that are disclosed, published or edited in relation to this agreement and to mention the collaboration of El País in all acts of dissemination of said activities. Furthermore, the Instituto Cervantes undertakes not to use them outside the cases provided for in the agreement and not to damage its image under any circumstances. For its part, El País may make public and disseminate, through its own means, the contribution to the cultural and academic activities of the Instituto Cervantes.
